The low enriched uranium miniature neutron source reactor (LEU-MNSR) neutron spectrum characterization for k0-INAA

چکیده

Ghana’s highly enriched uranium (90.2%) research reactor has been converted to a low (13.0%) type. Its neutron parameters have characterized for the application of k0-instrumental activation analysis. The magnitude LEU epithermal shaping factor (?) at irradiation site increased by about 25% as compared HEU, while thermal neutrons decreased 5%. This indicates that spectrum is much dependent on 1/E1+?. Similarly, measured fast flux 22%. Generally, results show core’s relatively harder, i.e., there marginal increase in high-energy neutrons. used validate k0-IAEA software. Two certified reference materials (Carbonate rock GBW 07108 (GBW2) and NIST Standard Reference Material 1646a, Estuarine Sediment (EST)) synthetic multi-element standard (SMELS I, II & III) were analyzed based routine scheme. process quality assurance was evaluated u-score test. Most (80 %) elements determined within |u-score| < 1.64, few observed 1.964 > 1.64. suitable characterization general applicability

Determination of Neutron Fluxes and Spectrum Shaping Factors in Irradiation Sites of Ghana’S Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (mnsr) by Activation Method After Compensation of Loss of Excess Reactivty

Accurate neutron flux values in irradiation channels of research reactors are very essential to their usage. The total neutron flux of the Ghana Research Reactor-1 (GHARR-1) was measured after a beryllium reflector was added to its shim to compensate for excess reactivity loss. The thermal, epithermal and fast neutron fluxes were determined by the method of foil activation. The experimental sam...

Development of k0-INAA standardization method by neutron activation with Am-Be source.

The k(0)-standardization method on the (241)Am-Be isotopic neutron source has been studied and developed. In this paper, the characteristics of the neutron spectrum in an isotropic neutron field of (241)Am-Be isotopic neutron sources was experimentally determined by dual monitor method using measured cadmium ratios of (197)Au(n, γ)(198)Au and (98)Mo(n, γ)(99)Mo(β(-))(99m)Tc reactions. Applicati...
